Ubud Countryside

Took a bike ride through the rice fields and small towns outside of Ubud, passing many workers in the fields, some painting shops set up in the middle of nowhere, and some curious kids.

I walk down the road to Laka Leka, getting snarled at by dogs in the dark on the way. Upon arrival a flower is tucked behind my ear and a welcome drink is placed in my hands. My cocktail comes in a pineapple adorned with flowers. Dinner is amazing. And then the dance, the Kecak Dance:



Ubud, Statues

Ubud, like the rest of Bali, is adorned everywhere with statues - at temples, on houses, even just sitting on the side of the road or as part of a stone wall. It's a curious feeling to have all of these gods, demons, animals, and randoms looking at you, some snarling, some sticking out their tongue, others flashing you their bits...
